22nd season of contemporary and video arts festival “Waterpieces” has opened in July with an extended series of international new media and experimental video screenings at the floating arts center NOASS in Riga, Latvia. Situated by the River Daugava, the arts center NOASS launched its annual festival “Waterpieces” with an extensive July program featuring short films from renowned video arts festivals and short film organizations.
This year, in cooperation with this project, the program titled, “Inspired and Audacious: Women Creators in Japanese Animation,” was screened as the opening program. It is a collection of animation works by female creators active in Japan. It also includes other award-winning works of the Japan Media Arts Festival, and the “Japan Media Arts Festival Special Program featuring YUKI Yoko” was shown as the closing program.
