Waterpieces


Contemporary and video arts festival “Waterpieces” 20th season presents an extended series of international new media and experimental video screenings at the floating arts center NOASS in Riga, Latvia. Situated by the River Daugava, the arts center NOASS launches its annual festival "Waterpieces" with an extensive July programme featuring renowned video arts festivals and short film organisations including AG Kurzfilm (Germany), Japan Media Arts Festival, MADATAC (Spain), ADDIS Video Arts Festival (Ethiopia) and the international video project "Contingency".


This time, Waterpieces holds the screenings of “ANIMATIONISM - All Creativity Welcomed -”, “MIZUSHIRI Yoriko Program”, “23rd Japan Media Arts Festival Award-winning Program” in association with this project.

A short animation program that includes 5 works produced by the winning artists from the animation division at the 23rd Japan Media Arts Festival.

“MIZUSHIRI Yoriko Program”

MIZUSHIRI Yoriko creates sensual animations and a variety of works using unique motifs such as body parts and familiar subjects for the daily life of the people. In addition to those animated short films, this program features her quite distinctive music videos. People sometimes say her works are kind of closer to the surprisingly satisfactory texture they encounter when akami tuna sashimi melts in my mouth.
