Japan Media Arts Festival will present a special talk and animation screening in the comic book library of the KULTURHUSET in Stockholm.

The KULTURHUSET in Stockholm is a library of children’s comics which has been collecting, conserving and providing access to Swedish comics ever since it opened in 1966. It has hosted the annual Stockholm International Comics Festival – an exhibition and sales event for self-published comics and small lot comics – every April since 1999. It also holds regular events through the year to introduce comics and animations from around the world.

Talk & Screening
In Sweden, a country which has produced many famous comic book authors, Japan Media Arts Festival will present a talk on the theme, ‘Anime and Manga as Media Arts’. The speaker, Professor Berndt of Kyoto Seika University, will examine the relationship between comics and cartoons in contemporary Japanese culture, referring to both comics that have been made into cartoons and cartoons turned into novels. Six past award winners of Japan Media Arts Festivals’ Animation Division will be screened after the talk.

Manga Division Award Winners Viewing Area
