With the aim of showing Japan’s high level of contemporary art and entertainments, award-winning works of Media Art, Animation, Games, and Manga from the Japan Media Arts Festival are exhibited and showed at international festivals.
Following this year’s special theme of "ANIMATIONISM-All Creativity Welcomed-", we will introduce the Japanese animation production studios that are popular now, unique creators, and also online short animation programs. This is a site where you can feel the dynamic scene of Japanese animation, in which a vast variety of diverse creations are produced.
Curation ThemeThis September, we will be launching “TOKYO GARDEN” website as a Tokyo online outlet for Ars Electronica 2020, Europe’s largest festival for art, technology and society. We are planning to have a wide variety of contents such as, talk sessions with different artists and curators, virtual studio tours, sharing archives and showing works of winners from 2020 Prix Ars Electronica and Japan Media Art Festival 2020. Join us online for an exciting virtual tour of the Tokyo art scene.
In collaboration with the Manga Barcelona convention, a special website with the theme, "Manga, diversidad e inclusión" (Manga, diversity and inclusion) has been created. The site introduces six works that show the diversity of Japanese manga, with a focus on TSURUTANI Kaori's work "BL Metamorphosis", which was the winner of the 22nd Japan Media Arts Festival's Manga Division New Face Award. We will also hold online Q&A sessions and live drawing sessions with manga artists who create works on a variety of themes.
A short animation program that includes 5 works produced by the winning artists from the animation division at the 23rd Japan Media Arts Festival.
We selected eight notable producers who are leading the Japanese animation scene. We will introduce representative works and behind-the-scenes materials related to the production process.
