Animators Taku Furukawa and Atsushi Wada will present talks and works will be screened at Fantoche 2014, the 12th International Animation Film Festival from September 2nd-7th.
The annual Fantoche festival in Baden, Switzerland, was started in 1995 as a contest for 2D, 3D, mixed live action and other short animations within 40 minutes in length. It is known as an animation festival that shows special appreciation for bold ideas, new modes of depiction and radical story lines.
2014 is the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Switzerland and this year’s program marks the occasion by offering a comprehensive overview of Japanese animation during the past few years. Japan Media Arts Festival will present talks by Taku Furukawa, a leading figure in Japanese short animation since the earliest days, and Atsushi Wada, the globally renowned animator, together with screenings of works.
