Sónar Sound Santiago –Sónar+D
The Japan Media Arts Festival is taking part in the Sónar+D segment of Sónar Sound Santiago, which begins in Santiago, the Chilean capital, on Saturday 5 December. It will be first time for the city to host Sónar, one of the foremost international music festivals. The Japan Media Arts Festival will screen a selection of short anime and feature a number of projects. The participation in Sónar+D stems from “The quick brown foxp2 jumps over the lazy media” special exhibition held in Santiago in October.

Sónar is an electronic musical festival that has been held every June in Barcelona, Spain, since 1994. Starting 2002, it has been organizing events at unique environment in other parts of the globe to spotlight local artists. Tokyo, São Paulo, Cape Town, London, Frankfurt, and Buenos Aires are some of the major cities apart from Barcelona that have hosted Sónar events. They gained acclaim for picking out leading artists and presenting lineups offering the latest trends in electronic music. Sónar also fosters contact among different genres.
One of the most interesting content that Sonar festival offers, is the international conference of digital culture and creative technology called Sonar+D.This interdisciplinary platform brings technicians, entrepreneurs, artists, companies and researchers all together, promoting talent and business opportunities in a digital media environment.
Part of the activities that held the conference are exhibitions of innovative projects developed in creative labs, media labs, universities and companies. One outstanding collaboration is the Japan Media Arts Festival and Bienal de ArtesMediales. 2works from the Special exhibition " The quick brown foxp2 jumps over the lazy media " , will be presented.
The congress offers a meeting point for creators, artists and industry leaders gather to address the main topics of the digital ecosystem. By Networking, investors and entrepreneurs can meet to generate new business, complemented by a 10 minutes coaching with experts of creative industries in Meet the Investor. Live performances and interactive shows enhance the experience of this trans-media platform. Mr. Gerfried Stocker (Artistic Director, Ars Electronica) and Ms. Paula Perissinotto (Director, FILE: Electronic Language International Festival) will be among the people giving talks.
