KARI Sumako

Raised in Fukuoka, Japan. KARI debuted in 1994 with SWAYIN' IN THE AIR (Ranmaru/Ohta Publishing). She has worked in a variety of genres such as BL, a genre focused on homoerotic relationships between men, young people's manga and women's manga, attracting a legion of passionate followers. In 2006, her work, Family Restaurant (Ohta Publishing) was turned into a film. In 2020, Ashita Shinuniwa (lit. Since I Could Die Tomorrow) won the 23rd Japan Media Arts Festival Manga Division Excellence Award. She has also written Ikuhyakuseiso (lit. Many Hundreds of Years, published by Ohta Publishing), Doitsumo Koitsumo (lit. Every Last One of Them, published by Hakusensha), Kankaku Soda Fountain (lit. Soda Fountain of Senses, published by Kodansha), Usotsuki Akuma (lit. Liar Devil, published by Shodensha Publishing Co., Ltd.) and Logic Tree (Shinshokan Co., Ltd.), among others.

Have you ever thought of how your life would end?
HONNA Sawako is 42 years old and single, working hard at a film promotion company. One night, her heart suddenly begins to palpitate and her body becomes cold, prompting her to call an ambulance. She starts to wonder if she has any menopausal disorders as she becomes more and more irritated as the days go by.
KOMIYA Toko has finished the first step in raising children and has started a part-time job. An exciting potential for love visits her life.
NARUKAMI Sara is unemployed and has moved back into her parents’ home, shutting herself away from society. She spends her days with no light at the end of the tunnel.
These three women, who were classmates in middle school, each face their own worries, confusion and crossroads in their lives. Now in their 40’s and struggling to adapt to the changes happening in their minds and bodies, the three reexamine their lives.
