Director’s message
I've heard it said that the sound produced by human structure, namely voice, is too different in resolution from the tens of thousands of lines of programmed, artificial sound. In this work, Lenna uses her own voice as a medium, and by designing the equipment and space with precision, it feels like an experiment in which the entire space becomes music. Although we can't invite you to experience it for yourself, we invite you to feel her creativity in creating sound from images and listening to it.

Media installation

Designed in 22.2 channels only using the author's voice, this work encourages the listener to recognize not only the sound reproduced but also the space in which the sound is echoed. With the aspect of stimulating discussion and practice around the auditory environment, it will be allowed for secondary use by Creative Commons and installed in various space freeing from the artist’s hands. Based on the concept of using the same sound source and utilizing different spaces, this work was created on the premise of omnidirectional playback from the composition and recording stages and has been exhibited at Anechoic Room at NTT ICC (2 channels) and an open-space gallery (22.2 channels) at YCAM. The name of the work comes from "Lenna", a portrait of a test image used in image processing.
